Celebrating PH Golf’s Incredible Players and Their 2024 Season Achievements

The 2024 PH golf season has been a memorable journey, shaped by the dedication, hard work, and achievements of each player. Senior Sam Dowdy, who consistently brought in scores under par, led the team in multiple categories, clinching First Team All-District honors (in a loaded district, I might add) and multiple tournament wins. Leading with commitment, determination, and remarkable grit and success on the course, Sam departs the PH Golf Program as one of its most consistent performers the program has every had. Congrats on your incredible career, Sam. We will miss you.

Alongside Sam, co-captain Harper Stephenson shined this season, with standout performances, including her win as CRUNCH Fitness Athlete of the Week following her round at Blacksburg CC. Harper delivered for PH for four seasons, lettering every year, and continues her success at PH as a two-sport athlete. We will miss your bright smile, dedication, and friendship.

Departing Seniors Parker Cilek and JB Clements round out the class. Two wonderful members of the team with bright futures. We appreciate their dedication to the grind, improving throughout their careers.

Our JV team also showcased rising talent, with standout performances from Jake Masinter, who earned First Team All-District honors, and brothers Quinn and Parker McCahill (eventually was elevated to the Varsity), who drove the JV Swinging Pattys to top finishes across the season. Together, these young athletes made their mark in every competition, fueling the team's competitive spirit and depth for years to come.

Appreciation for Supportive Families and the PH Community

The accomplishments of the PH golf team wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering support of our community, including parents, school officials, and volunteers. From support at matches to lending hands at events, this backing made a profound impact on the team, fostering a positive environment for our athletes. A huge thank you to everyone who supported the players and helped make the 2024 season extraordinary.

The remarkable coaching staff also deserves special recognition. Chris Dowdy, Associate Head Coach, brought years of experience, guiding the players through challenging matches and instilling a strong work ethic. Jim Beasley, our dedicated JV Head Coach, focused on player development, particularly short games, helping each player build a solid foundation. Their dedication and countless hours spent nurturing the players’ skills have made a lasting impact. Thank you, Coaches Dowdy and Beasley, for your leadership, patience, and commitment to PH Golf.

Enhancing Practice: The New Swing Lab

Next season, players benefit from the new Swing Lab at PH, featuring technology like SkyTrak and Blast Golf. The lab has already afforded the team with indoor practice sessions, and will allow players to refine their skills with data-driven insights on swing metrics, putting accuracy, and overall precision. This addition prepares the team for future success, empowering each athlete with cutting-edge training.
